Zuoz belongs to the Maloja region and is situated on the River Inn in the historic landscape of La Plaiv. in 1534, the first play in the language of the Upper Engadine was premiered in the village square of Zuoz. Even today, the village of Zuoz is considered an authentic Romanesque village and the most beautiful in the entire Upper Engadine. Pretty patrician houses with typical oriels and sgraffito decorations are characteristic of it. In the small alleys there are numerous galleries everywhere. Due to its proximity to the rivers Inn and Flaz, the town is a popular starting point for rafting excursions. These lead through rapids and gorges such as the Giarsun Gorge.
