The Val Grande is located in the southern Maggia Valley in the canton of Ticino. It boasts dramatic rock formations and clear, turquoise water. You will find numerous well-marked hiking trails through the impressive landscape. The gorge is also a paradise for climbers. As the Maggia can suddenly turn into a raging river when the snow melts or when the water is released from the reservoirs, you should only go canyoning in Val Grande as part of a guided tour. Rapid slides over the rocks and exciting abseiling sections make the gorge varied and diverse. One of the highlights is a 30 m high waterfall (Mini Niagara).
