Mooraculum adventure park on the Rossweid Sörenberg

The Mooraculum adventure park starts directly at the mountain station. It includes a children's playground and two themed trails that lead directly through low and high moors. The Mooraculum uses playful experiments and puzzles to teach children about scientific topics in a child-friendly way. Benches and fire pits are designed to make families feel comfortable and stay longer.

• Dress: waterproof shoes (bring spare clothes) In the adventure park you will find:
• Ponds with water play equipment
• Oases of peace and quiet such as the hanging chair forest
• Climbing adventures
• Raft for crossing the large pond Four barbecue areas have been set up at the edge of the forest, offering space for a total of 40 people. They are partly sunny and partly in the shade of the forest. You can buy bundles of firewood for a few francs at the mountain station.

Söppli is the name of the mascot in the Mooraculum, who is committed to preserving the moor landscape. With his help in the Discoverer-OL-Pass, children search for hiding and nesting places for endangered animal species.

Rossweid Sörenberg: Sun dew trail in the Mooraculum adventure park

The Sonnentauweg is a circular trail suitable for baby carriages. It is 1.5 km long and leads through colorful fens. You will discover many orchids among the pretty flowers. The blueberry bog forest with gnarled mountain pines allows visitors to experience a special world. A total of 17 varied adventure stations have been set up. You have the opportunity to learn and experience lots of exciting things about the moor. The great thing about it is that you can experience it with all your senses. The mosaic dragonfly Mira from the raised bog accompanies you. You explore animal tracks, walk barefoot over moss and sand and compare flower scents. Hanging chairs on the trees invite you to linger.

Rossweid Sörenberg: Large moorland trail

The large moorland trail is a 4.5 km long themed trail. It is easy to walk, but requires good footwear and rain jackets. The tour leads from Rossweid via the Schwarzenegg ski hut, Türndlimoos, Grossgfäl, Turmschwand and Alp Salwide back to Rossweid Sörenberg. You should allow at least 1.5 hours for this, as there is always something new to discover. Here, too, you will find 17 interactive adventure stations. Did you know that the peat soil grows by just one millimeter per year? So it takes 1000 years of growth for one meter of peat soil. The typical peat soil is formed by mosses and carnivorous plants such as the sundew. Along the way, you will build moor artworks, solve puzzles and make combinations to balance the moor. At the valley and mountain stations of the Rossweid cable car, you can pick up an explorer's kit with expedition equipment for yourself or your family. A magnifying glass, compass and acid test strips will help you to collect the right research results. Enter your results in the Moor Whisperer Pass and you might even get a reward at the end.

Trotti experience in the Mooraculum

For the scooter experience, go to the top station of the Rossweid cable car. Here you can hire fat scooters for the descent and return them at the valley station. Please note: the descents are fast and not suitable for smaller children. Fat scooters look really cool with their oversized tires. For this reason alone, you are guaranteed to have a lot of fun. From the mountain station, a 4 km long and fast descent takes you past mountain meadows, an alpine cheese dairy and the sparkling reservoir lake.

Hiking trails from Rossweid Sörenberg

From Rossweid Sörenberg you have the opportunity to admire the unique landscape on longer or shorter hikes.

Photo trail and hiking trail Rossweid Sörenberg to Schwarzenegg

The Rossweid-Schwarzenegg hiking trail starts at the valley station of the Rossweid cable car. You can pick up a photo kit here. You will need the gadgets and the booklet on the way if you want to use the photo trail on the hiking trail. A total of five photo posts are set up on the trail and you have a gadget for each one. This is designed to increase creativity.

The 2.4 km photo trail is open all year round. The approximately one-hour circular hike leads from Rossweid Sörenberg through beautiful moorland landscapes and past gnarled mountain pines to Schwarzenegg. In winter, the clear air and enchanting snowy landscapes give the photos a particularly beautiful effect. From the Schwarzenegg, you descend gently and take the direct route back to Rossweid Sörenberg.

Steinbock Trek between Rossweid Sörenberg and Brienzer Rothorn with ice lake

The Steinbock Trek has two stages:

• Stage 1: Rossweid Sörenberg - Lättgässli - Brienzer Rothorn - Eisee
• Stage 2: Eisee - Arnihaaggen - Schönbüel - Glaubenbielen - Sörenberg

You can spend the night at Berghaus Eisee.

Stage 1: From Rossweid Sörenberg, the hiking trail runs along the Mooraculum and colorful moor meadows to Blattenegg. From here, you climb 450 meters in altitude in serpentines to Chruterebode over a distance of one kilometer. You reach Lättgässli via a concrete staircase. From here, the ridge path offers a wonderful panorama of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau amidst 690 mountain peaks.

Stage 2: You reach Arnihaaggen via the Eiseesattel. The further descent takes you via Stellenen and Fontanen to Glaubenbielen. If your feet hurt, you can wait here for the post bus to Sörenberg. Otherwise, continue on via Schwendeli on a good hiking trail to Sörenberg.

Ski area at the Rossweid Sörenberg

In winter, Rossweid gives you access to the large Sörenberg ski area. You can view the Sörenberg piste report at any time. The winter season usually starts at the beginning of December and lasts until the beginning of April.

Skiing and snowboarding

There are 53 kilometers of pistes available for skiing and snowboarding in the Sörenberg ski area. Mountain railroads not only take you up to Rossweid Sörenberg, but a further 5 mountain railroads take you to the huge ski area.

The valley stations in Sörenberg are spread out from Schönenboden to Sörenberg-Platz and Schönisei. There are also ten ski and chair lifts that take you directly to the fun in the snow. The Snowli Kids Village is located in Sörenberg not far from the valley station.

Toboggan run on the Rossweid Sörenberg

The 2 km long toboggan run starts about 5 minutes' walk from the Rossweid Sörenberg mountain station. It takes you via Schwand to the valley station in Sörenberg. It is particularly suitable for families with small children. The view is of a fantastic panorama with the Brienzer Rothorn, Rossflue and Schafnase.

The toboggan run starts off with great views and a leisurely descent, but quickly picks up speed. At times you will be riding over the ski slope. Smaller and inexperienced sledgers should therefore not go alone. The Rossweid toboggan run takes you up 300 meters in altitude.

Night sledging takes place every Friday between 19:00 and 21:30 from the beginning of January to the beginning of March. The piste is floodlit from 19:00 to 22:00. On these days you can enjoy a spaghetti snack in the Rossweid Sörenberg restaurant.

You can hire a sledge right next to the Rossweid valley station. Only Davos sledges, toboggans, bobsleighs and plastic sledges are permitted here. For legal reasons, dogs are not allowed on the slopes.

Rossweid adventure restaurant and mountain hotel

You can reach the adventure restaurant and mountain hotel directly from the Rossweid gondola lift and the Schönisei ski lift. The self-service restaurant offers a wide selection of seasonal Swiss cuisine.

The Berghotel Rossweid offers rooms for 2 to 4 people in the middle of the ski area. The Rossweid snow bar offers 180 seats for après-ski fans.

If you stay at the Berghotel in summer, you will receive the Sörenberg Card and travel for free on the mountain railroads.

Getting to the Rossweid above Sörenberg

The cable car from Sörenberg to Rossweid is in operation in both summer and winter. It runs continuously every day and takes just under 7 minutes.

• Sörenberg valley station: in the middle of the village at 1166 m above sea level.
• Rossweid mountain station: at the Mooraculum adventure park at 1470 m above sea level.

Public transportation to Rossweid Sörenberg

Take the train directly from Bern and Lucerne to Schüpfheim. From there, take the Postbus line 241 to Sörenberg. There is a bus stop directly opposite the valley station of the Rossweid gondola lift (Sörenberg Post).

By car

From Bern take route 10 to Sörenberg in about 1:15 hours. You will find a parking lot at the Rossweid gondola valley station.
