When does the ski season start in Switzerland?
The start of the season for ski resorts in Switzerland depends on snow conditions and altitude. Therefore, there is not the start of the season and the end of the season. As a rule, ski resorts open their slopes in early December and maintain operations until the end of April.

Where can you ski in summer or in extended season?
At higher elevations, such as Saas Fee, it's quite possible that you can ski on the glacier as early as November and as late as Easter. The same goes for Zermatt, where you can even enjoy the slopes during summer skiing.

Since 2014, the two ski resorts Arosa and Lenzerheide have been connected by a gondola. The newly created ski area is particularly versatile and is now one of the largest ski areas in Graubünden. It is known for its varied and long, sunny slopes.
The area stretches across two valleys with blue, red and black runs and offers a total of over 225 km of piste for all levels. In Tschuggen in the Arosa sub-area, you'll find a large number of easy slopes. These offer a great opportunity for beginners in particular to try their hand at skiing.
The Lenzerheide area includes a large selection of family areas. However, it also offers a variety of challenging slopes for advanced skiers. Lenzerheide is considered very snow-sure and is equipped with modern snow-making and lift facilities.
Throughout the ski resort Lenzerheide Arosa you can look forward to many huts and mountain restaurants with culinary diversity. Many of them offer natural a gigantic panoramic view of the Grisons Alps.

The Davos Klosters ski area offers over 300 kilometers of slopes and includes six different sub-areas: Jakobshorn, Parsenn, Madrisa, Rinerhorn, Schatzalp and Pischa.
Each sub-area has its own special characteristics and is differently suited for beginners, families, advanced skiers or freeriders. However, you are guaranteed to find an impressive mountain world and gigantic panoramic views in all sub-areas.
If you are in Davos Klosters as a beginner or with the family, you should check out the Rinerhorn and Madrisa. You can expect wide and easy slopes, which are ideal for relaxed descents or for beginners. The Schatzalp is also very suitable for relaxed descents.
The Parsenn area is excellent for classic alpine skiing. This sub-area can be reached from Davos as well as from Klosters.
For freestylers there are great snow parks on the Jakobshorn and freeriders get their money's worth on numerous off-pistes in the Pischa sub-area.
The train stations Klosters and Davos are very well connected by the train of the Rhaetian Railway. The journey between Davos Platz and Klosters Platz takes about half an hour. In Davos, the highest town in Europe, you can also take the public bus between the Davos ski areas for free.

The Flims Laax Falera ski area stretches between the Vorab Glacier and the Cassonsgrat. It offers 235 kilometers of slopes with versatile descents for everyone. Beginners get their money's worth especially on the blue slopes at Laera around Alp Dado and on the slopes close to the valley in Flims
If you are a beginner and don't want to stay close to the valley, you can ski on numerous blue slopes on the Vorab Glacier at 2590 m.a.s.l.. Families can look forward to the easy slopes as well as three snow wonderlands that are especially fun for the little ones.
Experienced skiers will get their money's worth on the Vorab Glacier and on the sun-flooded red and black slopes in Nagens and Mutta Rodunda. More than 40 km of off-piste areas await freeriders, and freestylers will love Laax for its four snow parks. These parks are equipped with one super and one mini pipe.

The Zermatt ski area offers over 360 kilometers of slopes, making it one of the three largest ski areas in Switzerland. Part of the area is located at 3883 meters above sea level, making the Zermatt ski area the highest ski area in the Alps. Thanks to the altitude, there is a summer ski area with 21 km of slopes
The area is divided into four sub-areas: Rothorn, Gornergrat, Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Cervinia on the Italian side. In these areas there are perfect slopes for all skill levels. A total of 220 km of red slopes for advanced skiers, 63 km of black slopes for experts and 75 km of blue slopes for beginners.
For beginners there are great practice areas, beginner parks or blue slopes in Täsch, Randa or on Sunnegga. The offer of ski schools in Zermatt is very comprehensive. The ski resort Saas-Fee offers a total of 150 km of slopes. Of these, 37 km are blue runs, 90 km are red runs, 23 km are black runs and 5 km are freeride routes. Saas-Fee is a car-free resort surrounded by gigantic mountains and glaciers. The ski resort is located between 18 impressive four-thousand-meter peaks. Due to the altitude, the ski resort is very snow-sure.
Beginners can learn to ski on the slopes at the bottom station or try their hand on the blue slopes at the Alpine Express. For advanced skiers there is a very varied and partly adventurous offer on slopes up to 3600 m.a.s.l. A special highlight is the descent from Allalin to Saas-Fee, which overcomes almost 1800 meters of altitude.
Freeriders and freestylers can also let off steam in Saas-Fee. There are five different off-piste routes and two adventurous fun parks. It's important that apart from these designated routes, you don't leave the piste. Here you are often on the glacier and off-piste the danger of landing in a crevasse lurks.
Not far from Saas-Fee are the Saas-Almagell and Hohsaas ski resorts in Saas-Grund. These are easily accessible by post bus from Saas-Fee and with the ski pass for all ski areas you travel for free by post bus.

The ski area has a total of 400 km of slopes and connects the resorts of Bruson, Verbier, La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. The area is very suitable for all skill levels. It includes 119 km of blue run, 196 km of red run, 29.5 km of black run and 55.5 km of freeride routes.
La Tzoumaz is especially good for the beginners and advanced skiers. The ski resort has a wide range of blue and red slopes.
Advanced skiers also have a wide choice of red slopes in Veysonnaz and Verbier. Here, snowboarders also get their money's worth at 2950 meters above sea level. Advanced skiers can make the famous descent to La Chaux. For professionals, it goes up to 3330 m.a.s.l. on the slope to Mont-Gelé.
Nendaz offers a selection for beginners and advanced skiers in the lower part. However, the highlight of the area is the black piste to Prarion.

The ski resorts in the Bernese Oberland include over 774 kilometers of slopes, where families, freestylers, freeriders and snowboarders will find what they are looking for. The ski resorts reach an altitude of up to 3016 meters, which promises good snow conditions.
The Grindelwald ski area covers a total of 103 kilometers of slopes and offers versatile runs for beginners, advanced skiers, professionals and snowboarders. The area is one of the three largest ski resorts in the Bernese Oberland.
At the foot of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau there are many wide blue slopes, which are very ideal especially for beginners. A particularly suitable and beautiful run for beginners is the long slope from the Fallboden chairlift top station to Brandegg.
Since the majority of the slopes in this ski area are red marked slopes, especially advanced skiers and snowboarders will get their money's worth. A highlight of the ski area is the red Punchball run, which starts on the 2320 m high Eiger glacier.
For the pros there are the very adventurous slopes "Oh-God" and "Black-Rock", which also start on the Eiger glacier.

The Mürren ski area comprises a total of 54 kilometers of piste on 24 runs. With the 2970 m high Schilthorn, it is the highest skiing area in the Bernese Oberland and is therefore considered to have guaranteed snow. The Adelboden Lenk ski area offers over 86 kilometers of slopes. It is spread over the mountains Silleren, Chuenisbärgli, Hahnenmoos, Metsch, Tschentenalp and Bühlberg. The area lies between 1068 and 2362 m.a.s.l. and thus promises a good snow guarantee.
Adelboden Lenk offers the right slopes for all levels. Around Metschstand and Hahenmoos there are many blue marked slopes, which are especially suitable for beginners.
Advanced skiers are best off using the more than 33.5 km of varied red-marked slopes around Sillerenbühl and Aebi. For the pros, head to the Boden-Chuenisbärgli lift. The famous World Cup slope starts at this mountain station. So if there is one place where you can feel like a ski racer, it is here.
A highlight for freestylers is the Gran Masta Park at Hahenmoos. In this park, beginners can test themselves with simple rails and jumps. Advanced riders and pros also put their skills to the test here.

The ski resort Meiringen-Hasliberg has 60 kilometers of slopes distributed over 23 pistes. The ski area is particularly well suited for families and beginners, but advanced skiers will also get their money's worth on various slopes. For professionals there is a small, but still exciting selection of black marked slopes.
For children there is the Skihäsliland Bidmi, where they are taught to ski in a playful way. Beginners ideally ski on the blue-marked slopes in the lower part of the ski area. Especially between Bidmi and Reuti there is a nice selection of blue marked slopes. A special downhill run for beginners is the Twing valley run, which leads to Hasliberg Reuti.
Advanced and professional skiers will find what their heart desires on the slopes at Hochsträss, Mägisalp and in the Hääggen-Mägisalp Skicross Park.

The Gstaad ski area extends over ten peaks and has over 200 kilometers of slopes. The area lies at an altitude of between 1000 and 3000 meters above sea level and is the only glacier area in the Bernese Oberland. Snow is therefore often guaranteed as early as October. On 75 pistes there are varied runs for all skill levels.
The Wispile, Gstaad's local mountain, is particularly suitable for families. In this corner there are many easy downhill runs, snowshoe trails and toboggan runs.
A highlight for beginners and enjoyable skiers is the more than 10 km long downhill run from the summit of La Videmanette to Rougemont. If you need a break in between, you can stop at several huts and enjoy the panoramic view.
For advanced and professional skiers, the glacier is a special highlight. Various adventurous and exciting slopes and a fun park offer a lot of fun and variety.

Central Switzerland is home to a total of 575 kilometers of slopes, offering all levels of ability. For families, there is a large selection of ideal areas with ski schools and children's worlds. Advanced and professional skiers also have a wide choice, including adventurous runs on the glacier in Engelberg. Off the slopes there are many possibilities for freeriders.
The ski area offers 120 kilometers of pistes spread over 44 runs. Here, beginners as well as advanced and professional skiers will find many exciting runs. Beginners can practice their first turns on 25 km of slopes, advanced skiers will get their money's worth on 55 km of red slopes and for the pros there are over 40 km of black slopes
A special slope for the pros is the "Bernhard-Russi-Run" slope, known as the most difficult downhill run. It starts at the Gemsstock lookout peak and runs to the Gutschen middle station. On a length of 4.3 km 950 meters of altitude are overcome
For the little ones there are three different children's parks that promise lots of fun and skiing adventures. Freestylers can look forward to two fun parks, which are equipped with many exciting elements as well as a 100 m half pipe
Another highlight in the ski resort is the Snow Night on the Dleni-Milez slope. Here the slopes are illuminated and invite you to night skiing and sledding

The Titlis Engelberg ski area offers 82 kilometers of slopes and extends over Brunni, Titlis and Jochstock. A special highlight is the Titlis glacier with 3238 m altitude.
With 29 km of blue, 38 km of red and 15 km of black slopes, all skill levels are guaranteed to find what they are looking for. The slopes in Brunni and in the valley area are the ideal beginner slopes for beginners and relaxed skiers.
For the more advanced skiers, there is a great selection of runs throughout the area. A highlight of the ski area is the Rotair cable car to the glacier summit at Titlis. The lift rotates and thus offers a gigantic panoramic view. On the glacier there are many exciting red slopes.
Freestylers can look forward to a fun park at Jochstock and for freeriders the slopes from Laub to Dorf and from Galtiberg to Engelberg are a very special highlight.

The Sörenberg ski area has 53 kilometers of slopes, making it the largest winter sports area in the canton of Lucerne. In the middle of the area is the Brienzer Rothorn, which at 2350 m.a.s.l. is the highest mountain in the canton
In total, Sörenberg offers 30 km of blue marked slopes, 15 red marked slopes and 8 km of black marked slopes. All skill levels will therefore find what they are looking for, but there is the largest selection of slopes for beginners.
The area is also particularly popular with families. In addition to the large selection of easy slopes, there is a snow sports school, two adventurous sledding trails and many guided snowshoe tours

The ski resorts in Eastern Switzerland include 2399 versatile kilometers of slopes. Families can look forward to children's paradises, beginner slopes and ski schools. But also advanced skiers, professionals, freestylers and freeriders have a wide choice of exciting and challenging slopes.
The ski resort Flumserberg offers 65 kilometers of slopes and is thus the largest winter sports area between Zurich and Chur.
With 40 km of red marked slopes, the area is very suitable for advanced skiers. Especially at the Prodkamm and Maschgenkamm there is a very varied terrain where sporty skiers get their money's worth.
On 14 km of blue-marked slopes, beginners can practice their turns and relaxed skiers can enjoy a relaxing downhill run. Beginners practice best on the shorter runs at Tennenboden. Here the little ones can also look forward to an exciting Kinderland.
Those looking for a bit more action are best off visiting the Family Snowpark, which guarantees fun with many elements. For advanced freestylers there is the snowpark "The Real Park" with over 700 m of obstacles.

The Pizol ski area comprises a total of 50 kilometers of slopes and is located in the middle of the well-known vacation region of Heidiland. There are a total of 15 km of blue, 21 km of red and 6 km of black marked slopes.
Thanks to a versatile fun park, freestylers of all levels get their money's worth, in addition to beginners, advanced skiers and families. For sporty skiers there is also a speed measuring track between Pizolhütte and Gaffia.
A special highlight on the Pizol is the offer of night skiing. Every Friday, the carving slope next to the gondola lift is illuminated and invites skiers to ski until 10:30 pm.

In the Ticino ski resorts, especially sporty skiers can look forward to varied red-marked slopes. But also families have a wide choice of children's paradises and ski schools. Ticino is also considered particularly rewarding for winter hikes and snowshoe treks.
The Airolo ski area has 30 kilometers of slopes distributed over a total of 13 different runs. The area lies between 1175 and 2256 m.a.s.l. and offers a special panoramic view of the St. Gotthard massif.
The ski area is particularly suitable for advanced, professional and freeriders. There are 15 km of red marked slopes, 14 km of black marked slopes and 8 km of ski routes. With only one kilometer of blue slopes, the Airolo area is more for experienced skiers.
For families with children, there is a ski school and a ski kindergarten where the little ones can make their first attempts on skis. Freestylers can look forward to the Yukipark, which is equipped with many elements such as rails and kickers.
A special highlight in the ski resort is the full moon skiing. On this evening, the slopes are illuminated only by the light of the moon, which creates a unique atmosphere.
