Leuk is located in the Swiss Rhone Valley and has a history of over 4000 years. The historic center of Leuk features medieval buildings such as a pentagonal town hall. The Gothic church of St. Stephen has a 20-meter skull wall in the ossuary. The former bishop's castle dates from the early Romanesque period of the 11th century and was extensively restored by the Ticino star architect Mario Botta.
