Kloten is a town located in the plain of the Glatt Valley. It is situated at an altitude of 435 m above sea level and is only 10 km away from Zurich. About 20000 people live in Kloten. North of the town are the forests Homberg, Buehalm and Schlatt. Homberg, like Hardwald, is a site with Hallstatt period burial mounds dating from 750 to 450 B.C. Zurich Airport claims a significant portion of the municipality's territory. There are several Roman structures in the Kloten area, such as their late Roman fortifications and the Roman manors of Schatzbuck and Egetswil. The rope park in Kloten is a popular destination.
