The Hölloch has a total length of 210 km and a difference in altitude of 1033 meters.
The cave offers a wide range of guided tours. You can choose between different expedition lengths and the destination of the tour. There is everything from 2-hour short tours to full-day tours. On one tour, visitors can even enjoy dinner in the cave.
You will be accompanied on all tours by experienced expedition guides. They will give you a lot of exciting information about the formation of the cave and the different stone formations. These include dripstones, which have formed over millions of years from calcareous water. Or exciting steep walls and fascinating cave rooms. How to get to the Hölloch
The visitor center to the Hölloch is located in the village of Stalden in Muotathal. A short walk away from the center is the entrance to the impressive cave. The area can be reached without problems by public transport or by car.
Public transport
The cave is a three minute walk from the nearest bus stop Hölloch. For the easiest way to get there, take the train from your starting point to the train station Schwyz. There you take the bus 501 direction Muotathal Hölloch and get off at the terminal stop. The bus leaves every 30 minutes from Schwyz station.
By car
The cave is also very easy to reach by car. Just drive to the address "Stalden 15, 6436 Muotathal". You can park your car at the Restaurant Hölloch in Muotathal/Stalden. From there it is only a short walk to the visitor center. Also bigger coaches can drive on the road to the restaurant Hölloch without any problems.
For whom is the Hölloch suitable
Due to the numerous offers for various expeditions into the cave, a visit is possible for any normal fitness level. Claustrophobia should not be a big problem either, as the paths in the Hölloch are generally quite spacious. Visitors who can use a normal 4 person lift without any problems should not be claustrophobic in the cave.
Since the temperature is the same all year round at 6°C and the weather outside does not matter, a visit to the Hölloch is one of the perfect bad weather ideas in Switzerland.
However, the cave is not accessible with strollers, wheelchairs or dogs. However, a visit to the Hölloch makes an excellent school or family outing. An expedition through the Hölloch is also a great activity for smaller, private team events.
