Practical Information:
Shinrin Yoku is the Japanese term for "forest bathing" and literally translates to "taking a bath in the atmosphere of the forest." It is a mindful practice where one consciously spends time in the forest to experience the calming and healing effects of nature.
This practice was developed in the 1980s in Japan to reduce stress and promote people's health. Numerous scientific studies have shown that Shinrin Yoku has positive effects on physical and mental well-being, such as lowering blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, and reducing stress hormones.
Shinrin Yoku is not a sporting activity, but a conscious, slow, and sensory encounter with nature. Typical elements include mindful walking, deep breathing, perceiving the sounds, scents, and textures of the surroundings, as well as meditative exercises. The goal is to relax the body and mind and fully utilize the regenerative power of the forest.
