Adventures for a family outing in Switzerland are waiting around every corner. You just have to find them.
Ride down the mountain on a Monster Trotti and enjoy the beautiful view. These oversized scooters are a blast for adventurous kids. Thanks to the wide tires, this ride is very stable, safe, and easy to handle. You can rent Monster Trottis, often called Monster Scooters, at many different locations in Switzerland, usually near mountain lifts.
Swiss Activities Tip: When riding the Monster Trotti in Matten, you’ll have a breathtaking view of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, you’re surrounded by 72 waterfalls. But the downhill ride is also a blast for the whole family in Saas-Grund in Valais or in Bosco Gurin in Ticino.
Surrounded by nature, you can climb through trees and various obstacles in the Rope Park. The over 50 rope parks in Switzerland offer different difficulty levels and heights for every skill level, making them perfect for a family outing. You'll find rope parks in places like Gantrisch, Interlaken, Arosa, or even in the cities of Zurich and Bern.
Swiss Activities Tip: The Rope Park Interlaken has a butterfly course without harnesses for the little ones. Parents can also enter for free to help them out. This way, even the youngest kids can have fun.
For sporty families who aren’t afraid of heights, a via ferrata is an adventurous outing. On a via ferrata, you’re secured with ropes and climb the path using iron ladders, pegs, and clamps. Depending on the location, age, and experience, there are various difficulty levels. You can find beautiful via ferratas, which are also suitable for kids, like the Zermatt via ferratas, on Tälli or Schwarzhorn in Grindelwald.
Swiss Activities Tip: Check in advance whether you can do the activity at a specific location with your kids. Many destinations require a minimum age of 18. However, there are indeed via ferratas that can be done with kids from 120 cm tall.
