Ausserberg is situated at 1008 m above sea level in the Lötschberg region. Between the Bietsch and Baltschieder valleys, the village is situated on the slopes of a wild and romantic landscape. In Ausserberg, the necessary water is fetched via suonen from the surrounding glaciers. Today, 40 km of these suonen are still in operation. The village is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch. The surrounding area is crisscrossed with long hiking trails. Sights in the village are the "Pfrüemdschiir", the Driel (wine press), the Burgerhaus built in 1645 and the mill. (Photo: Switzerland Tourism)
