The Vira Gorge is located in the canton of Ticino near the city of Lugano. It is around two kilometers long and can be reached on foot in ten minutes from the village of Vira Gambarogno. The Riale di Vira mountain stream flows through the gorge. The canyon features spectacular rock formations and crystal-clear water. Compared to other gorges, the rocks here are less steep and are therefore ideal for families and beginners in canyoning. The Riale di Vira flows directly into Lake Maggiore after around five kilometers.
