Unterseen is located on the Aare River on the alluvial plain between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The municipality includes the Harder Kulm, the area west of the Hardergrat and the nature reserve Weissenau on Lake Thun. In front of the town there is a magnificent and almost unique panorama over the Bernese Oberland and the mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
