The Trauffer World of Experience takes you on a journey through the world of Swiss craftsmanship and tradition. You can discover the fascinating history of Trauffer wooden toys and gain an insight into how they are made by hand. And you can also get creative yourself.
A tour of the Trauffer World of Experience begins on the 1st floor. You will pass through the following rooms and stations:
Guided tours of the Trauffer Holzfabrik next door are available for groups of 15 or more and last around an hour. Smaller groups can also come, but pay a flat rate. During the tour, you will gain an insight into the production process and learn how the various toys are made.
Groups of 15 people can book cow carving and painting courses at Trauffer. There is also a flat rate for smaller groups. A workshop lasts 1:30 hours and includes the carving and painting of a cow.
The Trauffer Erlebniswelt has two restaurants and the Raclette-Huusli. Marc A. Trauffer named the restaurants after his grandparents, who founded Trauffer Holzspielwaren AG in 1938.
Alfred's is an à la carte restaurant that uses regional products and promises quality. The restaurant, which is open daily, also has a charcoal grill. Table reservations are recommended.
Rosa's is a self-service bistro with its own bakery. In addition to indoor seating, there is also outdoor seating, conveniently right next to the children's playground.
The unheated Raclette-Huusli is an area designed by the Trauffer employees themselves and made from 100 old windows. There are two round raclette tables with a grill over an open fire in the middle. You can fry your bacon or sausage here and melt your own cheese.
The Bretterhotel is a cozy hotel with 31 rooms. (Almost) everything is made of wood. Five of these rooms have their own sauna located right next to the bed. Other rooms come with their own slides.
The Trauffer Erlebniswelt is easy to reach. It's located right next to the Ballenberg Museum.
The official parking for the Trauffer Erlebniswelt is located at the Ballenberg parking lot, which has been expanded by 100 spaces. It’s just a 2-minute walk from there. From Lucerne, you need about 50 minutes by car via the A8, and from Bern, it takes around 1 hour via the A6 and A8.
Right in front of the main entrance to Trauffer, you’ll find the bus stop "Holzkuhplatz." The postbus 151 runs from Brienz train station and takes about 10 minutes. The same route also stops at the parking lot of the Ballenberg Museum West and takes just 1 minute to get to the Trauffer Experience World.
From Lucerne, you can reach Brünig-Hasliberg by public transport via Sarnen in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. In Brünig-Hasliberg, you catch the post bus 151. If you're coming from Bern, the trip through Interlaken Ost and Brienz takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
