Rigi round trip by boat and train from Lucerne, self-guided

Enjoy a whole day on Mount Rigi with an approach via the enchanting Lake Lucerne. On this unique round trip, you will experience everything the Queen of the Mountains has to offer.

You start your excursion individually in Lucerne with a leisurely boat trip across the beautiful Lake Lucerne to Vitznau. To ensure you have enough time on the Rigi, we recommend that you board the boat that departs Lucerne at 9:12 am. You will then travel to Vitznau.

From Vitznau, the Rigi Railway will take you to the Queen of the Mountains. The train runs every hour from Vitznau to Rigi Kulm on Europe's oldest cogwheel railroad. You have a direct connection from the boat to the mountain railroad.

After a short ascent, you will reach your main destination at around 11:00 a.m.: the summit of Rigi Kulm. From the vantage point, you can enjoy a 360° panorama. And you might even discover all 13 lakes that can be seen from the summit...

Take care of yourself as you please in one of the restaurants on Mount Rigi or enjoy a picnic you've brought with you.

How about a short walk afterwards? The flower trail, for example, takes you from the Lok 7 restaurant via Staffelhöhe to the Känzeli viewpoint. And from the viewpoint, you can then reach Rigi Kaltbad.

In the afternoon, take the cogwheel railroad to Vitznau or the aerial cableway to Weggis. From there, you can take the boat back to Lucerne in comfort.
