Grindelwald Terminal is a very modern transport hub that connects two valley stations with the regional train station. The terminal was built in connection with the so-called V-project of Jungfrau Railways in the years 2018 to 2020

  • The Grindelwald Terminal combines the valley stations of the cable cars Eiger Express and Gondelbahn Grindelwald Männlichen.
  • Directly from the terminal you have half-hourly connections to the Bernese Oberland Railways (BOB) via the new Rothenegg station to Interlaken.

Train Station and Parking Garage

The terminal provides short distances and quick connections from Grindelwald to the Eigergletscher, Jungfraujoch, and Männlichen. The Grindelwald Terminal is very well connected to the surrounding area by regional trains and buses.

The Grindelwald Terminal includes two valley stations for cable cars. The train station of the Berner Oberland-Bahnen (Rothenegg Station) is directly connected to the terminal, as is the parking garage. On Level 4 of the parking garage, you can also charge your electric car.

Two ski depots at the Grindelwald Terminal contain more than 500 locker systems. They are heated, ventilated, and lit. The lock can be opened and closed as often as you like during the rental period.

Arrival to Grindelwald Terminal

Grindelwald, as a traditional vacation region, is equipped with an excellent transport network. The Grindelwald Terminal is located just under 500 m northwest of the Grindelwald Grund train station at Grundstrasse 54. Buses run regularly to other train stations in Grindelwald and Grindelwald Grund.

Public transport

From Interlaken Ost you can reach the Grindelwald Terminal in only 30 min with the Bernese Oberland Railway from Interlaken-Ost station. The regional train R61 runs every 30 min to and from Grindelwald Terminal.

From Bern it takes about an hour with a change of trains in Interlaken Ost and, depending on the connection, in Spiez.

By car

The journey by car from Interlaken Ost also takes about half an hour The parking garage in Grindelwald Terminal offers 1000 parking spaces and is conveniently booked online. Entry and exit is via a QR code.

By car, you are also an hour away from Bern and take the same route as the train along Lake Thun. At Interlaken airport, turn off in the direction of Grindelwald.

Mountain Railways from Grindelwald Terminal

From Grindelwald Terminal, there are two aerial cable cars. The newest one is the Eiger Express, which reduces the travel time to Jungfraujoch by half compared to the original cogwheel train route. If you're looking for a more leisurely experience, you can still take the cogwheel train from Grindelwald Grund to Kleine Scheidegg. By the way, the price is the same no matter which route you choose. The mountain railways operate in Grindelwald year-round (except for the Pfingstegg cable car).

Activities at Jungfraujoch

You take the Jungfrau Railway through the Eiger North Face to reach the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch. At Jungfraujoch, you can access the Aletsch Glacier directly. You've reached 3,454 m above sea level on the "Roof of Europe." Here, the Ice Sea, the Ice Palace, the Alpine Sensation, the Jungfraujoch Plateau with views of the Aletsch Glacier, and many other attractions await you.

Activities at Männlichen

At Männlichen, you have a range of hiking trails from easy to difficult. The panorama trail to Kleine Scheidegg is especially renowned for its stunning views.
