Täsch is located in the middle of the Mattertal valley near Zermatt. In Täsch every visitor to Zermatt changes to the Matterhorn-Gotthard railroad. The road to Zermatt is closed to traffic. The village, situated at 1449 m above sea level, is the starting point for wonderful hikes in summer and cross-country skiing in winter. From here, paths lead to the Längflue glacier and the Täsch hut. The Europaweg, which runs from Grächen to Zermatt, takes you to Täschalp with the restaurant Europaweghütte Täschalp. Here you can also spend the night and continue hiking the next day. (Photo Täsch and Zermatt: Switzerland Tourism, Sonderegger)
