9 Highlights in the Snowli Kids Village

The Snowli Kids Village Zermatt covers an area of about 3500 m². The area is located on the Riffelberg and is designed in a simple and child-friendly way. Professional ski instructors from the local ski school look after the children aged 4 to 6. From the very beginning, the children learn how to take their first steps in the snow and on skis properly. The mascot Snowli and his friends help the children to overcome their first fears. The lessons follow the beginner levels of the Swiss Snow League Snowli Prince / Princess, Snowli King / Queen and Snowli Star. Supervised lunch breaks including lunch and drinks are offered. Supervised train ride in the specially painted children's train between Zermatt and Riffelberg On Friday there will be a ski race with award ceremony on the Riffelberg.

The Snowli Kids Village is a winter sports training area for little ones. They are looked after all day from/to Zermatt and enjoy lunch at the Riffelberg restaurant. For half-day lessons, you pick up your child at the agreed time at Riffelberg.

What to expect at Snowli Kids Village Zermatt

The journey on the cogwheel train is already an adventure. Your child travels (supervised) on the kids' train from Zermatt through a stunning mountain landscape and arrives at Riffelberg after 23 minutes.

The operator of the Snowli Kids Village Zermatt at Riffelberg is the Ski and Snowboard School Zermatt. The village covers an area of about 3,500 m².

Level Ski Course at Snowli Kids Village

The Snowli Kids Village teaches skiing based on the levels of the Swiss Snow League. These levels are perfect for the little ones just starting out.

  • Snowli Prince (for kids who are brand new to skiing)
  • Snowli King (for kids who want to learn how to brake in a snowplow)
  • Snowli Star (for kids who want to learn snowplow turns)

What does Snowli Kids Village offer?

Kids will have fun, games, and unforgettable snow experiences. There are also concrete educational insights for the ski courses:

  • The story of Snowli, the snow hare
  • Your child will get to know snow and skis
  • Walking, ascending, and turning with skis
  • Parallel skiing and braking in a snowplow
  • Practicing the first turns out of a fall line

At the end of the course, Snowli tests will be conducted. Every child receives a personal booklet, along with a medal that can be picked up later at the ski school office.

A full day of ski lessons includes:

  • About 4 hours of instruction
  • About 1 hour of supervised lunch at Riffelberg mountain restaurant
  • (Train ride, lunch, and drinks are included)

The ski school is offered for 3 to 5 days. In addition to full days, you can also choose half days (with or without lunch).

Every Friday, a kids' ski race with awards takes place to wrap things up.

Getting to the Snowli Kids Village Zermatt

You can only get to the Snowli Kids Village Zermatt using the Gornergrat Railway. You need to book the ski school in advance and will be informed about the meeting place and time for the kids. If your child is only taking part in the half-day ski course, you'll need to pick them up yourself at Riffelberg.

The kids' train departs just after 9:00 AM from Zermatt and arrives at Riffelberg after 23 minutes.

Return trips usually end around 3:45 PM at the train station in Zermatt, where the kids need to be picked up. Alternatively, you can agree to pick up your child at 3:00 PM at the Riffelberg train station.

Weather at the Snowli Kids Village Zermatt

The weather at the Snowli Kids Village Zermatt is unpredictable. At high altitudes around 2600 m above sea level, there is usually a more or less strong wind during the day. Warm clothing and gloves are therefore essential. A ski goggle is required to prevent eye strain and even snow blindness. Sunscreen, lip balm, and a helmet are also part of the necessary equipment.
