The Golden Pass Panoramic Train is one of the famous panoramic trains in Switzerland. It operates between Lucerne and Montreux. With this ticket, you can travel either from Lucerne or from Interlaken Ost, thus completing a part of this scenic route.
Coming from Lucerne, the journey first takes you along Lake Lucerne. Afterwards, it ascends to Lake Sarnen and then to Lake Lungern. From there, the train continues to climb to the Brünig Pass, which is situated at 1008 m above sea level. From this point, the journey descends again, offering you a beautiful panorama of the Bernese Alps as you head towards Brienz. After a short stop in Brienz, the train winds along the turquoise-blue Lake Brienz towards Interlaken Ost. If you are coming from Interlaken Ost, the order of these places you pass will be exactly reversed.
Between Brienz and Interlaken, you can spot the Grand Hotel Giessbach on the other side of the lake. Here, the Giessbach Falls cascade down the mountain in 14 steps into Lake Brienz. If you’re planning a longer stop in Interlaken, we recommend visiting this beautiful spot.
