It lies on the southeastern shore of Lake Sarnen and is only half an hour's drive from Lucerne and Lake Lucerne. The highest point in Sachseln is the Brünig Haupt at 2245 m above sea level. The Älggi Alp at 1645 m above sea level is the geographical center of Switzerland.
