You've probably already seen them, the bright red wagons of the Rhaetian Railway. On postcards, old posters, on television or in real life. The Rhaetian Railway has been part of Graubünden since 1889 and since then it is impossible to imagine one of the most diverse landscapes in Switzerland without it.
With its spectacular viaducts and tunnels, the railroad lines blend harmoniously into the wild nature of the Grisons. Thus, every trip with the Alpine Railway becomes a unique railroad experience. The Ruinaulta is an approximately 13 km long and up to 400 m deep gorge of the Rhine. It is not without reason that this impressive natural phenomenon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can admire it from the steam train in September. On the journey through the autumnal Grisons, you will travel from Landquart through the monumental Rhine Gorge between Reichenau and Ilanz. Then the journey continues by steam train, past Conn and via Trun in the direction of Disentis/Mustér
There you will have a longer stay, where you can stretch your legs and explore the village of Disentis. In the afternoon you will start your return journey in the historic train composition of the Rhaetian Railway. The steam trip can be booked one way or return. The character was penned by the Grisons singer-songwriter Linard Bardill and is the children's conductor of the Rhaetian Railways.
