Postbus ticket from Reichenbach i. K. to Griesalp and back
From Reichenbach im Kandertal, the Postbus line 220 takes you via the Scharnachtal valley to Kiental. Up to this point, it overcomes 250 of the 800 meters of ascent to Griesalp.
It then becomes really steep with a gradient of up to 28% between Tschingel (Kiental) and Griesalp, which lies at 1408 m above sea level. The steep part of the road is one-way and very narrow. the Postbus negotiates 20 hairpin bends with precision.
You can get off at any stop along the way and enjoy the view or hiking routes individually. In this case, check the timetable so that you know when to be ready at the stop for the next Postbus.
Route:
The post bus takes 0:47 hours each way.
Practical information:
Griesalp has a large network of easy to challenging hiking trails. It lies in a beautiful alpine cultural landscape, which is part of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site in the rear Kiental valley. Along the way you will find a number of simple mountain inns that are personally run by the owners.
A beautiful half-day hike leads along the Alpine farming and nature trail in the Kiental valley. It contains a number of informative information boards and starts directly at the Postbus stop at the Kurhaus. There are two stages, which take 2 and 4.5 hours respectively. The shorter section can also be walked in bad weather without any problems.
You could make a stop at Tschingel and continue on the next Postbus. On the one hand, the view of the winding Postbus from the outside is worthwhile. Secondly, the Tschingelsee is worth a closer look. It was formed by a large mudslide and consists of changing gravel beds, small lakes and rivulets.
