Postbus ticket between Chur and Bellinzona

Depending on your ticket, you start in Chur or Bellinzona. Here we describe the route from Chur. From Bellinzona, everything runs in the opposite direction.

From Chur, you travel with the bus of line 171 on your way to Bellinzona, passing through Domleschg, a wide valley. It has the highest density of castles in all of Europe. Along the Viamala gorge, the bus continues until reaching Thusis.

The San Bernardino Tunnel is 6.6 km long and connects southeastern Switzerland with Ticino. Through the southern Misox Valley, you arrive in Bellinzona, which is home to three medieval castles. You can get off at any stop along the way to explore a place, enjoy the view or the hiking and biking routes. In this case, check the timetable so you know when to be ready at the next bus stop.

The outwardly unremarkable St. Martin's Church in Zillis is worth a visit. Inside, you'll discover a precious cultural treasure. The ceiling is decorated with 153 Romanesque wooden panels painted over 900 years ago. A small exhibition provides information about the history of the panels.

If you want to take your bike on the Postbus, please note the following rules:

• Check in the online timetable or the app if a route with a bike is shown
• If so, please purchase a reservation ticket for your bike alongside your regular ticket

• Mail vans are generally equipped for wheelchair transport. The door for access with a wheelchair has a corresponding symbol.
• The mail van between Chur and Bellinzona has an integrated platform lift operated by the driver (no prior booking needed). This is marked as HL in the SBB timetable.

• Carrying small dogs up to 30 cm is free if they stay in a transport container throughout the journey. This must be placed under your seat.
• Dogs without a container and all dogs over 30 cm shoulder height require a valid dog ticket: half price of second class or the minimum fare (dog day pass, dog passport). They must sit under the seat so as not to block the aisle for other travellers.
