Nufenen Postbus pass ride from Airolo or Oberwald

From Airolo, the Postbus line 111 takes you via Bedretto and All'Acqua to the top of the Nufenen Pass at 2478 m above sea level, covering an altitude difference of around 1300 meters. The Postbus then descends again via Ulrichen and Obergesteln to Oberwald. The descent on this route is around 1100 meters in altitude.

Practical information:

• Suitable for wheelchairs, baby carriages and dogs
• We recommend that you do not get off the bus on this route, as there are only two connections per day.

The Nufenen Pass is the highest busy Alpine pass in Switzerland. From 2478 m above sea level, you have a beautiful view of the Gries Glacier and Lake Gries from the right-hand side of the window in the direction of Airolo. In the direction of Oberwald, you should choose the left-hand side of the window.

• The Postbuses are generally equipped for the transportation of wheelchairs. The door for wheelchair access has a corresponding symbol.
• The Postbus between Oberwald and Airolo has an integrated lift that is operated by the driver (no advance notice required). This is marked as HL in the SBB timetable.

• Small dogs up to 30 cm are free of charge if they remain in a transport container for the entire journey. This must be pushed under your seat.
• Dogs without a container and all dogs over 30 cm shoulder height require a valid dog ticket: half the price of 2nd class or the minimum fare (Dog Day Pass, Dog Pass). They must sit under the seat so that the passageway is not blocked for other passengers.
