Postbus journey Grimsel and Nufenen Pass Meiringen - Airolo
From Meiringen, take the Postbus line 161 (from Oberwald line 111 if you take the connection with a change in Oberwald). On your way to Airolo, you will pass the Aare Gorge.
At the top of the Grimsel Pass, you will be amazed by the large Grimselsee, a reservoir. Further south, you reach the Nufenen Pass, the highest pass in Switzerland at 2478 m above sea level. The ride ends in Airolo.
You can get off at any stop along the way and enjoy the view or the hiking and biking routes. In this case, check the timetable so that you know when to be ready at the stop for the next Postbus.

Swiss Activities Tip
It's worth making a stop at the top of the Nufenen Pass. The mountain world looks very impressive from the pass at 2478 m above sea level. In addition to the Bernese Alps, you can also see the Gries Glacier, which stretches over an area of 5 km².
Traveling with a wheelchair
- The Postbuses are generally equipped for the transportation of wheelchairs. The door for wheelchair access has a corresponding symbol.
- The Postbus between Meiringen and Airolo has an integrated lift that is operated by the driver (no advance notice required). This is marked as HL in the SBB timetable.
Traveling with your dog
- Small dogs up to 30 cm are free of charge if they remain in a transport container for the entire journey. This must be pushed under your seat.
- Dogs without a container and all dogs over 30 cm shoulder height require a valid dog ticket: half the price of 2nd class or the minimum fare (Dog Day Pass, Dog Pass). They must sit under the seat so that the passageway is not blocked for other passengers.
