You get to choose what you want to experience at the Transport Museum, whether it's individual themes, like the museum or the planetarium, or a combination of different experiences.
With a day pass for the Transport Museum, you can flexibly plan your day however you like with your family. The pass allows you to visit the Transport Museum, the Swiss Chocolate Adventure, and the Media World. Shows at the planetarium and the daily programme of the cinema are also included. You should set aside a bit more time for the museum; it's so extensive and diverse that it won't let you (or your kids) go that easily.
If you first choose the planetarium, you'll be taken on a journey to distant worlds. You can either embark on a trip into outer space or experience the world of stars and northern lights in the sky. But be sure to carve out some time to enjoy a documentary on the XXL screen. To wrap up your visit, indulge in a culinary experience with the finest creations from the Lindt world.
A learning experience with all your senses. At the Swiss Museum of Transport, you'll find a wealth of leisure activities for the whole family, whether toddlers, schoolchildren or adults. In addition to countless exhibition models of the history of mobility in original size, you will find a variety of entertainment, learning and discovery opportunities.
The planetarium lets you experience a 45-minute virtual trip into space. Alternatively, you can choose to discover corals, fish and their environment in the underwater world. Or, have you ever had the opportunity to observe the mysterious Northern Lights in the sky? You can do it here in the planetarium
In the Chocolate Museum, you will embark on a journey through the history of Swiss chocolate and then have the opportunity to taste it The Hans Erni Museum shows more than 3000 objects to touch and marvel at. Children are also challenged interactively here, even if they are under six years old. In the movie theater you dive directly into the world of movies, whether nature films or thrillers. In 3D you are right there.
The IMAX movie theater offers a unique movie experience with documentaries during the day and feature films in the evening.
All stations and areas in the Transport Museum allow you and your family to enjoy with all your senses. You're not just allowed to look, but also to touch, taste, smell, and listen.
The interactive learning adventure. The Transport Museum consists of several sections and offers a variety of attractions. Here, you can discover:
At the museum, you embark on an interactive discovery journey with your family. The history of mobility is more than just an exhibition. Whether it’s locomotives, ships, cable cars, cars, airplanes, or space capsules: everything is experienced firsthand. Themed islands and simulators help you to understand the history of mobility in a lasting way.
The arena is a wonderful area for children aged three to twelve, where they can try out traffic rules on pedal cars. In the construction area, kids can build with diggers and shovels, load sand, and create paths.
The Media World is meant for older kids. Here, you'll discover virtual worlds between reality and the digital realm. Your creativity knows no bounds, and you can even try out green screen technology or act as a producer.
The picture museum of the famous Swiss artist Hans Erni is housed in a hexagonal building. It also hosts changing exhibitions and events. The mural "panta rhei" is a special highlight: the artwork is 18 meters long. Hans Erni immortalized people here whom he believes significantly shaped Western culture.
A 360-degree experience. At the planetarium, you’ll see the universe from entirely new angles. It lets you immerse yourself in a new world. Thanks to modern technology and the dome, you can gaze at the starry sky and understand various phenomena in a whole new way. Whether it's a lunar or solar eclipse, the Milky Way, or the mysterious Northern Lights.
There are several documentaries to choose from, including:
Each film is shown with headphones and lasts 45 minutes. Most films can also be played in English, French, or Italian. All films are suitable for kids from age 6 or 8.
In the world of chocolate, you'll experience a 20-minute multimedia film that shows you where the ingredients of chocolate come from and how it's made. The film is suitable for children aged six and up.
Using your eyes, ears, and taste buds, you can enjoy this experience. Afterwards, there will be a tasting session with an expert. A Maitre Chocolatier from Lindt offers his creations daily at 1 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM at his station. Of course, there will also be a chocolate fountain. You should plan for about 30 minutes total for the journey and tasting.
The virtual climbing experience. Who doesn't have the dream of climbing the Matterhorn one day? Here at the Museum of Transport, it comes true. You're actually climbing, but not on the Matterhorn, that's only your virtual goal. You climb up a climbing wall.
The virtual climbing experience is open to the brave among the young as well as the old. It is permitted from the age of twelve. Accompanied by the latest virtual reality technology, the dream of climbing the Matterhorn comes true. The ticket for this must be purchased separately You can have a similar experience with the Icarus. It lets you fly.
The XXL screen 3D experience. The films shown during the day are also very suitable for children of school age. For evening films, age restrictions must be taken into account.
Showing films on a huge screen during the day includes educational films on topics such as:
These films are all approved for ages 6 and up. Especially in 3D, you’ll feel like you’re right in the middle of the action. The massive screen offers a unique experience, and is the largest in Switzerland, measuring 25 by 19 meters.
Feature films on the giant screen also deliver an unforgettable experience. The impressions are particularly thrilling with action films. In the evening, the minimum age must be strictly observed, especially if children or teenagers are present. For example, the film Interstellar is shown in the evening. This is an award-winning science fiction film by Christopher Nolan, rated for ages 12 and up. The thriller Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, is also suitable for ages 12 and above. On the other hand, The Secret Life of Trees is approved for ages 6 and up.
