Riding a mountain bike through Switzerland lets you feel nature in a special way. You have the choice whether you want to undertake particularly strenuous and long tours through the mountains or prefer shorter ones. As a rule, mountain bike routes lead through mountainous or at least hilly regions.
There are about 9800 km of signposted routes for mountain bikes in Switzerland. The signposting is uniform throughout Switzerland. So you can quickly find your way everywhere. Mountain bike routes are signaled with red signposts and contain a white bike as pictogram. In addition, you can recognize both the name and the number of the respective route on it.

If you prefer to rent a mountain bike on-site, you'll usually find rental options near the mountain lifts. For particularly long tours, it's best to rent an E-Mountain bike. It assists you when needed, allowing you to cover more ground with less effort.
By the way, certain mountain lifts allow you to take your bike along. However, the rules vary widely. Some lifts will only allow mountain bikes on the first and last trip, while others may allow them at all times, and some not at all. There are even lifts (like those at the Tschentenalp) that take your mountain bike for free. Before planning a tour, make sure to check the specifics so you aren't caught off guard.
Not all lifts transport E-bikes. For example, the First lifts transport regular bikes, but not E-bikes. Be sure to check ahead of your trip.|Lift|Start|Destination| |:-----|:-----|:------|
