From Interlaken Ost you can choose between two routes with your Jungfraujoch ticket - either via Lauterbrunnen or via Grindelwald. The route you take to the Jungfraujoch is also the route you take back to Interlaken.
Via Grindelwald you take the cable car "Eiger Express" from Grindelwald Terminal to the station Eigergletscher. The modern cable car, opened in 2020, will take you from Grindelwald to the station in just 15 minutes. On the way, a magnificent view of the mighty 1800 m high Eiger North Face awaits you. At the Eiger glacier you change to the rack railroad and ride through the mountain massif of the Eiger and Mönch to the Jungfraujoch.
Via Lauterbrunnen the rack railroad takes you to Kleine Scheidegg via Wengen. On the way there you will pass the world-famous slope of the Lauberhorn downhill. You will be amazed at how steep the descent is for this ski race. At Kleine Scheidegg you change to the cogwheel train that takes you to the Jungfraujoch.
At the Eismeer station on the way to the Jungfraujoch you will have a short stop. Here you can admire and photograph the impressive glacier through a large panorama window.
Practical information
An approx. 45-minute hike leads you between March and October from the Jungfraujoch over the glacier to the Mönchsjochhütte, which is located at 3657 m above sea level. The trail is well signposted and prepared. This easy hike is also suitable for children. Put on good shoes and nothing will stand in the way of your excursion into the Swiss mountains.
If you are in a wheelchair or with a pushchair, it is advisable to travel by 3S-Bahn Eiger Express from Grindelwald Terminal (via Eigergletscher station).
If you travel via Kleine Scheidegg, Jungfrau Railways cannot guarantee transport in all cases.
The Jungfraujoch itself is suitable for prams and wheelchairs. The entrance to the Ice Palace is equipped with a wheelchair stair lift.
Groups of 3 or more wheelchairs should inform the ticket office clerk at the station of departure about the trip. This way, any necessary assistance can be organised.
