The Jungfrau Region has many popular destinations to offer. We give you some examples of what you can enjoy with the Jungfrau Travel Pass.
Kleine Scheidegg is a pass at 2061 m above sea level between the Lauberhorn and the Eiger. Wonderful hikes start and end here. It has a very impressive panorama with Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In between there are numerous glaciers. Mountaineers in the Eiger north face are gladly observed from here with binoculars.
Several cogwheel railroads meet at Kleine Scheidegg, with which you can travel:
With the special price you get up to the Jungfraujoch
The Eiger glacier is a glacier on the western slope of the Eiger at 3700 m above sea level, which extends to the station at 2300 m above sea level. In summer, people like to hike here along alpine and challenging hiking trails.
The Jungfraujoch with its viewing platform (3571 m above sea level) and the ice palace under the Aletsch glacier is an exceptional destination. Hikes across the Aletsch Glacier are popular from here
With the Jungfrau Travel Pass, you can ride the passenger ships on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The journey with the Berner Oberland Railway is also included.
On Lake Thun, a trip on the paddle steamer "Blüemlisalp", built in 1906, is a special experience. The paddle steamer "Lötschberg", built in 1914, travels across Lake Brienz.
The Jungfrau Region is a hiker's paradise. With mountain railroads you can reach such beautiful hiking and excursion areas as:
At Harder Kulm you can admire the panorama from Lake Brienz to the end of Lake Thun. Moreover, the southern mountain range of the four-thousanders can be seen excellently.
The Schynige Platte offers hiking trails and viewpoints as well as a large alpine garden. The panorama hiking trail is particularly popular here.
On Männlichen the view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is particularly impressive. The mountain is also very popular with mountain bikers. The Lieselotteweg and the Öpfelchüechliweg are two well-known theme trails between Männlichen, Holenstein and Brandegg.
Grindelwald First is also called "Top of Adventure". In addition to the Eiger and Jungfrau, the mountain giants Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and Fiescherhorn rise from north to south. The Mönch is hidden by the Eiger. The famous Bachalpsee is a one-hour hike from the First. At the viewing platform you will find a popular selfie point.
A growing number of these transport options are suitable for wheelchairs.
The majority of BLS ships are wheelchair accessible and have a toilet accessible by wheelchair. The only exception is the ship MS Interlaken, which operates on Lake Brienz.
For all wheelchair accessible ships, the access to the 2nd class outdoor decks is at ground level. This also applies to the restaurants. The 1st class of the motor ships Stadt Thun and Berner Oberland can be reached via a lift.
Cogwheel railways and modern cable cars transport travelers in wheelchairs or with walkers. All cable cars are legally required to offer space for nine or more persons in a gondola.
However, several gondolas with 4-8 places already provide this service. Please ensure to check the routes at your destinations. Not all of them are suitable for wheelchairs.
All trains of the Jungfrau Railways can be used with a manual wheelchair. Electric wheelchairs are partially transported (e.g., between Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch) in the luggage carriage. For the transfer at Kleine Scheidegg, it is recommended to register wheelchairs in advance, especially if multiple wheelchairs are traveling together.
The route from Männlichen to Holenstein or even Grindelwald can be managed with a wheelchair, but it should be all-terrain. The path to Kleine Scheidegg is also manageable with an all-terrain wheelchair. It runs at the foot of the Tschuggen via Bustiglen.
You are allowed to take your dog for free on the following routes with the Jungfrau Travel Pass:
For all other routes, paid tickets are required.
The Jungfrau Travel Pass is a very good deal with frequent use. It pays off quickly the more you travel in the Jungfrau region. You also travel very easily and do not have to worry about many individual tickets.
As soon as you want to change your trip spontaneously, you can do this easily.
Swiss Activities Tip: The price per day decreases with a longer duration when calculated per individual day. Therefore, the Jungfrau Travel Pass for eight days is the cheapest when calculated per day.
On the Harder Kulm you can admire the panorama from Lake Brienz to the end of Lake Thun. The southern mountain range of the four-thousand-metre peaks is also clearly visible. The cable car only operates in the summer months.
In addition to hiking trails and viewpoints, the Schynige Platte also offers a large Alpine garden. The panoramic hiking trail is particularly popular here. The cogwheel railroad only runs in the summer months.
The view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau from Männlichen is particularly impressive. The mountain is also very popular with mountain bikers. The Lieselotte Trail and the Öpfelchüechli Trail are two well-known themed trails between Männlichen, Holenstein and Brandegg.
Grindelwald First is also known as the "Top of Adventure". In addition to the Eiger and Jungfrau, the mountain giants Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and Fiescherhorn rise up from north to south. The Mönch is concealed by the Eiger. The famous Bachalpsee is a one-hour hike from the First. There is a popular selfie point at the viewing platform.
As you can see, the Jungfrau Travel Pass is an ideal way for you to experience the Jungfrau Region without any complications. With a longer pass you can enjoy the world famous mountain region comfortably and extensively
If you are not quite sure whether you want to buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass or not, we recommend a rough calculation. Think about what you want to experience and see and put together the individual prices of your routes.
This will give you a good feeling for whether the pass is worth it for you personally or not.
