Niesenbahn ticket from Mülenen

The Niesenbahn runs from April to November on the Niesen and takes 30 min.

Bottom station: Mülenen (693 m above sea level) Middle station: Schwandegg (1669 m above sea level) Top station: Niesen Kulm (2336 m above sea level)

The Niesen is the local mountain of Thun and Spiez. The popular excursion mountain is ideally suited for paragliding flights. At the summit you will find a panoramic terrace with a panoramic view as well as an adventure playground. It is called Niesen Döfli. In summer, however, the Niesen is above all a hiker's paradise.

You reach the viewing platform at 2362 m above sea level via an asphalted path. The Berghaus has a restaurant with a spacious terrace.

Every year in June, the 11`674 steps of the Niesenbahn are used for a "stair run". More than 200 runners take part in the Niesen stair run. This staircase is with 3.4 km the longest in the world. The runners conquer a height difference of 1669 m.

When the sun shines at the beginning of October, there is a special phenomenon to be observed at the summit of the Niesen in the time between about 2.30 p.m. and 4 p.m.. The shadow of the pyramid falls particularly strikingly on Lake Thun.

The Niesenbahn is wheelchair accessible and well suited for strollers. Prior information (wheelchair) to the railroad is recommended.
