Admire Swiss nature on this easy hike and let a private guide take you through Engelberg and up to Fürenalp.
Engelberg is one of the most famous mountain villages in Switzerland and is located in the middle of the Titlis area. Besides winter sports, the area is also known for wonderful hiking trails and the monastery in the middle of the village
On Fürenalp you will enjoy a wonderful view over the Swiss mountains and walk along idyllic hiking trails.
You can expect an approx. 3-hour hike from Fürenalp with transport from Lucerne and a visit to the beautiful Engelberg for beginners and families!
Meeting point: Lucerne train station or pick up.
You will meet your guide at Lucerne train station, where you will take the 8:10 train towards Engelberg in the best case. If you are staying in a hotel in Lucerne, you can also be picked up from there. You drive to Engelberg and take the bus from there to the train station Fürenalp.
You go: with the cable car.
During the ascent with the cable car towards the summit you can admire the alpine landscape around you with glaciers, 3000m mountains and lakes. You arrive at 1850 m.a.s.l., where your hike towards the valley begins.
You will hike for about 3 hours.
You take the hiking trail over the plateau with a view of the Engelberg valley and at eye level with the surrounding 3000 m high mountain peaks. You pass mountain streams and cow meadows and walk on the Flower Trail to the viewpoint, from where you have a fantastic view of the Titlis.
You make: a lunch break.
Depending on everyone's ability and interest, you can either take the cable car to Staefeli or continue the trail to Stauber (1630 m.a.s.l.) for a lunch break. You can enjoy a picnic or stop at an alpine restaurant.
You walk: further towards the valley.
The last stage of the hike leads about 1.5 hours down to the cable car station Fürenalp. You will pass streams, pastures and forests and may even be able to watch paragliders landing.
You see: Engelberg and the monastery
From the cable car station Fürenalp the bus takes you back to Engelberg. There you have time to visit the monastery and treat yourself in the integrated cheese store
Return journey: to Lucerne.
At 17:00 you take the train back to Lucerne, where your day hike ends.
Practical information:
- Take along: enough water, picnic or money for lunch in the mountain restaurant
- Don't forget sunscreen, sun hat and sunglasses!
- Good shoes are obligatory, ankle-high ones are recommended
- Wear windproof and layered clothes, as it can get chilly at altitude
