"Thun's high waves" guided tour of Thun

You take part in a public guided tour of the city. The meeting point is at the "Welcome Center Thun-Lake Thun Tourism" near Thun railroad station.

This unusual city tour lasts 1:30 hours and revolves around the theme of water. This means more than just the Aare and Lake Thun. You will learn how floods were tamed in Thun in the past. Mill wheels were powered by water and even bars had something to do with water. You will also get answers to questions about how laundry was washed and where bathing beauties used to swim in the Aare.

In addition to the exciting stories about water, there will also be a theatrical intervention.

Practical information:

• A reservation is required for participation in public guided tours, the number of participants is limited.
• The guided tour takes place with a minimum of 4 participants. If there are fewer registrations, Thun-Lake Thun Tourism reserves the right to postpone the tour. The guest will be informed accordingly.
• The tour takes place outdoors. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather.
• Don't forget your water bottles. These can be refilled at the many drinking fountains in the city.
• Public tours are not barrier-free. Accessible group tours are available on request.

In the fall, you can experience free water games after the city tour. They take place every four weeks from the end of September to the end of October. The "Thun Water Magic" takes place in all weathers. The Aare basin is located in Thun city center in front of the Hotel Aare Thun. It is about a five-minute walk from Thun railroad station and about three minutes from Mühleplatz.
