Carriage ride horse-drawn bus from Fex Valley to Sils

You travel by horse-drawn bus through one of the highest valleys in Switzerland. It lies between 1800 and 2000 m above sea level and starts at the Fex Glacier. In summer, it is a special experience to ride on the top of the five-horse coach.

Three stops are served:

• Fex-Curtins (Hotel Fex) (50 min to Sils Maria)
• Fex-Crasta (30 min to Sils Maria)
• Fex-Platta (20 min to Sils Maria)

Practical information:

• suitable for dogs, baby carriages and wheelchairs

Around 100 people live in Val de Fex today. The picturesque valley used to be the starting point for smugglers' trails to Italy. In the 17th century, stone slabs known as Fex slabs were quarried here until 1964. They are about one centimeter thick and were used for building stoves and roofing. The mica slate can still be seen on a number of houses today. The Fex-Crasta mountain church dates back to the 15th century and features beautiful frescoes.
