The Open Air Museum Ballenberg in the Bernese Oberland is a unique open air museum where you can get an insight into the Swiss way of life - partly from times gone by.
On the 66 hectare site you will visit buildings from all over Switzerland and get to know the rural everyday life better. You'll also have the opportunity to meet the farm animals of Swiss agriculture and see the cute farm animals in a petting zoo.
Numerous catering options are spread throughout the grounds, ranging from restaurants serving local cuisine to picnic areas where you can enjoy the food you've brought with you or fresh wood-fired bread purchased at the museum. Since Ballenberg covers a large area and is very extensive, we recommend that you plan the whole day for your visit.
Practical Information:
To make your visit to Ballenberg even more special, there is the possibility to organize a Foxtrail. You go from post to post and try to chase the fox through the open-air museum with funny riddles. This event is perfect for friends, families, wedding parties or company events.
